European Union: MDR and CE marking
IPD states it has achieved certification under Regulation (EU) 2017/745 (MDR). For an individual device, check the applicable declaration of conformity, relevant notified body certificate, intended purpose, risk class and UDI where required. Corporate statements cannot replace product-specific documentation.
United States: an FDA 510(k) is not company-wide certification
A 510(k) is a device-specific FDA premarket notification process concerning substantial equivalence for a defined intended use. It does not automatically certify a manufacturer’s entire catalogue. IPD refers to certain Class II devices and product codes NHA and PNP; each applicable clearance and scope must be checked.
Canada: establishment licensing versus device licensing
IPD lists Health Canada Medical Device Establishment Licence (MDEL) No. 18296. An establishment licence is not the same as a licence for every individual medical device. Specific regulatory requirements depend on the product and its classification.
Traceability in everyday practice
A traceability chain may involve REF, LOT, UDI where applicable, delivery documents and clinical records. A marketing product name alone is not a sufficient identifier when investigating a specific part or batch.
Checking the exact part
Before use, confirm the specific reference and batch, current IFU and other manufacturer documentation, indication, compatibility and CAD library. Regulatory compliance and suitability for an individual clinical case are separate assessments.
Important interpretation
The original marketing article uses the phrase “FDA certified”. Our editorial explanation distinguishes device-specific 510(k) clearances from broad claims about a company or its full product portfolio.
Exklusiv Dent editorial explanation based on the supplied source. Clinical and regulatory claims depend on the specific device.
