What is an IPDmilled premill blank and when does it make sense?
A premill is a titanium blank with an industrially manufactured implant connection. Only the coronal portion is milled according to the custom CAD design, allowing the laboratory to combine precise seating with a custom emergence profile, height and abutment shape.

The CAD design can be adapted to the soft tissues, available space, implant axis and desired prosthetic outcome.

Customization without machining the implant connection
The premill blank comes with a finished compatible connection. Custom milling takes place in the safe working zone above it. The result is a custom titanium abutment with geometry designed for the specific clinical and prosthetic situation.

Four controlled steps in the CAD/CAM workflow
The greatest efficiency gain does not come from faster milling, but from correctly linking the implant platform, library, CAM strategy and holder before production begins.
Select the system and platform
Verify the implant manufacturer, series, platform diameter and connection type. The same commercial name may include several incompatible variants.
Design the abutment in CAD
Use the corresponding IPDmilled library for exocad or 3Shape and check gingival height, axis and minimum thicknesses.
Assign the CAM strategy and holder
In hyperDENT, MillBox or vhf CAM, select the correct strategy, holder and premill position. Some systems require activation of support.
Mill and validate
After milling, inspect the surface, seating, screw passage and agreement with the ordered platform before completing the restoration.

What is the difference between a premill blank and a conventional titanium disc?
A premill blank already contains an industrially manufactured implant connection. The milling machine processes the coronal part of the abutment, whereas with a conventional disc the critical implant connection would also need to be machined. This changes the requirements for validation, accuracy and manufacturing-process responsibility.
Is IPDmilled compatible with an NT holder?
Yes. The range is designed to integrate with the widely used NT Line system. However, always verify the exact milling machine, holder and CAM configuration because mechanical compatibility alone does not guarantee active software support.
Are fixation screws included with the premill blank?
The current Czech-market offer includes two titanium screws in the price of one premill blank. For a specific reference, we recommend checking the package contents in the e-shop.
Where can I download the library for exocad and ModelCreator?
On the software-libraries page, open the IPDmilled package. In the exocad section, look for the folder “1-(Exo_IPDmilled) Abutment Library”, then select the specific system and platform. For model printing, also install the corresponding ModelCreator library.
Why might activation be required for some milling machines?
The original CAM environments of some manufacturers restrict the use of third-party holders. With VHF, imes-icore or Ivoclar, you may need to ask the manufacturer or reseller to activate IPD support or comply with its licensing conditions.
