When stock works
A well-positioned posterior implant with straightforward tissue contours may be restored appropriately with a prefabricated abutment.
When custom design helps
The smile zone, thin tissues, asymmetrical gingival margins and awkward cement-line access are common reasons to consider a customised restoration.
A controlled digital workflow
Record the implant position using the appropriate scan body, match the exact CAD library, design the emergence profile and finish line, choose titanium or a hybrid Ti-base, manufacture and verify seating.
Biological limitations
Customisation does not guarantee freedom from peri-implant inflammation. Residual cement, contour, component fit and patient-specific factors must all be considered.
Interpretation note
Source statements about microgaps or bacterial sealing should not be construed as a clinical guarantee.
